Ganzhou赣州

Overview

Ganzhou, anciently Qianzhou, is one of China's best-preserved Song Dynasty cities. The 3.6km Song wall still functions as flood defense. Ganzhou is a key Hakka origin area, with distinctive Hakka round houses (weiwu). Ruijin (under Ganzhou) was the capital of the Chinese Soviet Republic. Tongtian Rock is 'Jiangnan's No.1 Grotto'. Gannan navel oranges are a national geographical indication product.

Ganzhou Ancient City Wall

One of China's best-preserved Song Dynasty walls, 3.6km long. Bajing Terrace, Yugu Terrace, Yongjin Gate connected. Jianchun Floating Bridge is 800+ years old.

'Jiangnan's No.1 Grotto', 7km from downtown. Danxia landform with grotto art, Tang-Song stone carvings.

Ruijin (Red Capital)

Central Soviet Area site, birthplace of Chinese Soviet Republic. Yeping, Shazhouba revolutionary sites well preserved.

Hakka Round Houses (Weiwu)

Gannan has the highest concentration of Hakka round houses. Guanxi New Enclosure in Longnan is China's largest square weiwu.
