Overview

Ma'anshan in eastern Anhui on the Yangtze's south bank rose from steel and is famed through poetry. Caishi Rock is the foremost of the Yangtze's three great rocks, where legend says Li Bai drowned trying to embrace the moon's reflection while drunk. Taibai Pavilion is China's best-preserved Li Bai memorial, hailed as 'the foremost pavilion south of the Yangtze'. Ma'anshan is a major steel base, with Masteel as the economic pillar. Recent environmental improvements have seen Caishi upgraded to national 5A scenic area.
