Overview

Zunyi in northern Guizhou is China's revolutionary sacred land. The 1935 Zunyi Conference saved the Party and the Red Army, marking a great turning point. It's also home to Moutai, one of the world's three major distilled liquors. Chishui Danxia is a World Natural Heritage with red cliffs and green bamboo waterfalls. Hailongtun is a World Cultural Heritage witnessing 700 years of the Bozhou Yang chieftain legacy. World & Intangible Heritage

• Hailongtun Tusi Site (2015) — Inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage in 2015. A military fortress of the Bozhou Yang chieftains during Song-Ming period. Complete walls, passes, and palace ruins witness the rise and fall of the Tusi system.
• Chishui Danxia (2010) — Inscribed as UNESCO World Natural Heritage in 2010 as part of China Danxia. Mature Danxia landform with stunning red cliffs, green vegetation, and white waterfalls.
• Moutai Liquor Brewing Technique (2006) — Moutai uses unique '12987' technique: one-year cycle, two feedings, nine steamings, eight fermentations, seven extractions. National intangible heritage since 2006.
• Nuo Opera (2006) — Zunyi's Nuo Opera evolved from ancient exorcism rituals, performed with carved wooden masks. Called 'living fossil of drama'. National intangible heritage since 2006.
